About
Owner operated, and it shows
One person answers the phone, plans the job, and stands behind the work. That is the whole business model.
Built the slow way
Hughes Towing and Recovery started the way most good small operations start. One truck, a phone that rang at bad hours, and a decision to answer it every time.
Towing has a reputation problem, and it is earned. Surprise fees. Trucks that show up without the right gear. Cars dragged onto a deck by whoever was cheapest to hire that week. We built this business as the opposite of that experience, because we have all been on the wrong side of it at some point.
The work itself is the part we care about. Reading a scene before touching anything. Knowing which lift point is safe on a unibody car and which will fold it. Understanding that an air suspension car sitting on the ground needs ramps, not optimism. Recovery is problem solving under pressure, and it rewards operators who slow down at the right moment.
Somewhere along the way, enthusiasts started calling. Track cars, restorations, low slung builds, and garage kept collector cars that owners were nervous about handing over. Word travels in that community fast, in both directions. Handling those cars properly turned into a specialty because people kept asking for it by name.
We stay small on purpose. Growing past the point where the owner knows every job is how standards slip. When you call, you are talking to the person responsible for the outcome, and that keeps everything else honest.
